Matchup plan

When you have Flash, prioritize damage items; without Flash, buy boots for survival. If laning pressure is low, you can build Hextech Rocketbelt first with Electrocute rune; no need for mana items. Hwei doesn't have mana issues in the first 10 minutes, so you can skip mana items.

Hwei vs Mel · Mid lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Mel can reflect your ultimate, and dodging her Q with movement is stressful. Early trades are unfavorable; you need to bait her abilities to fight. It's tough against an equally skilled opponent.

How a strong Mel player plays

  1. 1

    Q Harass

Mel will frequently harass you with Q; dodge the first few hits to take only one tick of damage.

  2. 2

    W Reflects Key Abilities

Mel's W can reflect your R; she will hold it until you use a key ability.

  3. 3

    E Crowd Control

Mel's E is easier to dodge than Q, but if she hits you with E, she can follow up with Q for high damage. Watch your positioning.
