When Smolder takes Fleet Footwork, you can take Electrocute to trade frequently and gain advantage through burst. If you're behind, take Ignite to improve lane safety and recover through trades. Items like Hextech Rocketbelt, Rod of Ages, Liandry's Torment, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, and Horizon Focus are still viable. If you win lane, otherwise you may lack mana and damage. Storm Surge significantly boosts burst damage, good for proccing in trades.

How a strong Smolder player plays

  1. 1

    Level 1 Auto Trading

    At level 1, his autos hurt and he will try to auto-trade; you can't win, so push for level 2 to avoid it.

  2. 2

    E Ability Kiting

    When he takes E with Electrocute, he will E onto you for a full combo with Ignite; give up wave control and stay back to avoid his E.

  3. 3

    Q Ability Poke

    He will poke you with Q; don't waste your E combo just to dodge his Q, or you might miss your spells.
