Matchup plan

Good runes reduce lane pressure; adjust based on personal playstyle. To easily approach and kill Syndra, rush Protobelt. If playing burst (Electrocute + Protobelt), get Sorcerer's Shoes, then choose based on threat: low threat → Torch + Cryptbloom, high threat → Torch + Bloodletter's Curse.

Hwei vs Syndra · Mid lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Syndra is weak early game; dodge her Q to trade freely. After level 6, wait for her Q and E before engaging. Overall, it's not hard to suppress her.

How a strong Syndra player plays

  1. 1

Q poke to bait your skills

Good Syndra players will spam Q to poke you, waiting for you to waste your skills in retaliation, then back off and kite, making you waste mana.

  2. 2

    QE combo with jungler

They'll hold QE for when you push, then combo with their jungler. If hit, without Flash you're almost certainly dead.

  3. 3

Pressure after using Q to clear

After Syndra uses Q to clear minions, if you try to trade, she'll use her cooldown window to pressure you, denying your CS.
