Taliyah vs Irelia · Mid lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Irelia has high burst when fully stacked and gets on top of you. Taliyah is squishy; if hit by Irelia's E, you basically have to Flash. You can only avoid fights by managing the wave. It's very hard at equal skill.

How a strong Irelia player plays

  1. 1

Stack Passive with Q on Minions at Level 1

A good Irelia will Q three low-health minions at level 1 to stack her passive, then Q onto you for a trade. You should auto-attack the minion wave to spread out their health, avoiding three front minions being low simultaneously.

  2. 2

    Predict Stoneweaving When Q-ing Minions

When Irelia Qs minions, a skilled player will predict your Stoneweaving placement. If you lay down Stoneweaving early, she will be stunned upon Q-ing into it, making the trade favorable for you.

  3. 3

    Chase After Landing E

After Irelia lands her E on you, if the minion wave is near your tower, she won't get many autos. But if the wave is pushed forward, she will directly Q onto you to deal full damage.
