Matchup plan

In most cases, second item Shadowflame is the correct choice. If mid-game tempo is fast and you rarely die, build Mejai's Soulstealer second to stack, then third item Zhonya's or Banshee's for safety. If your team needs you to engage, build Zhonya's second as a utility item. If the enemy poses no threat, build Shadowflame or Rabadon's third to accelerate.

Vex vs Sylas · Mid lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Vex's passive hard counters Sylas; when he Es in, fear interrupts him. In the early game, control the wave and rush level 2 to pressure him; he can't trade effectively.

How a strong Sylas player plays

  1. 1

    E Engage to Bait Fear

He will deliberately E forward to bait your passive or W fear. After you use your fear, he will recast E to close in and unleash a burst combo.

  2. 2

    W Heal for Trading

He will use W to close in and trade during your skill cooldowns, using W's high healing to negate your poke and win the trade.

  3. 3

    Steal R for Counterplay

After stealing your R, he will look for an opportunity to fear you with your own R, then follow up with W and E for full damage, especially when your Flash is down.
