Xerath vs Sylas · Mid lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Xerath vs Sylas requires a passive playstyle; getting close is dangerous. You have to rely on wave control and long-range poke.

How a strong Sylas player plays

  1. 1

    Level 1 E poke

At level 1, Sylas will try to E you when you go for last hits, punishing you when you have no minions to block his E.

  2. 2

    After his E, kite

After he uses E, walk toward your tower; even if he lands E, he can't keep autoing, so you can trade back favorably.

  3. 3

    Level 2 pressure

Same idea at level 2: walk toward tower, he won't all-in after E. After you take E, you can trade back.
