Consider Doran's Shield for better sustain against Jax

Garen vs Jax · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Garen's E clears waves ignoring Jax's E, and has a shorter cooldown, so Jax can't do anything. Easy to bully early.

How a strong Jax player plays

  1. 1

    E blocks Q or auto after E

During trades, Jax will use E to block your Q, but during all-in he will use E to block your auto after your E ends. Don't get baited.

  2. 2

    Trade before passive stacks

Jax will trade before you stack your passive, using the edge of E to chip and then back off. Don't let him get free damage.

  3. 3

    Q in, AWA poke

Jax will Q in, then AWA to poke. If he doesn't stun, he retreats. He can make multiple mistakes but you can only make one.
