Matchup plan

Consider taking Phase Rush to proactively trade on the pushing wave; the movespeed prevents him from chasing, giving you an edge in trades. You can play aggressively early because item scaling compensates for disadvantages.

After stacking LT at level 1, engage from behind, don't start with E.Use E to dodge low-health AAs, limiting his lifesteal. After 6, avoid all-ins; Olaf's ult ignores CC.Mid-game, split push using Heartsteel health advantage. In teamfights, wait for Olaf to ult before diving backline.

How a strong Olaf player plays

  1. 1

    Low Health Bait

Olaf's passive gives him more attack speed and lifesteal at low health; he will intentionally lowball to bait you into fighting, then use high attack speed to lifesteal and turn the fight.

  2. 2

    Axe Chase

He will slow you with Q and pick up the axe to reduce cooldown, sticking to you. Even with Phase Rush, he will keep throwing axes to chase.

  3. 3

    Ult Rush

With R, he ignores CC and rushes you directly; your E stun is useless, forcing you to either fight or retreat.
