Matchup plan

Take Grasp of the Undying and Teleport, not Lethal Tempo, because Lethal Tempo lacks safety and sustain. If you lack green defensive runes (e.g., Bone Plating), early trades will be disadvantageous; you need to be more cautious. Without Trinity Force, your combat power drops significantly. You can swap Doran's Blade for Doran's Shield as starting item; the effect is similar.

Jax vs Tryndamere · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Jax's E perfectly counters Tryndamere's Lethal Tempo, giving him an advantage in trading and kiting. He can suppress Tryndamere before level 6, making it an easy matchup at equal skill.

How a strong Tryndamere player plays

  1. 1

Pressure when Lethal Tempo is up

When Tryndamere's feet glow red, his Lethal Tempo is ready; he will try to trade. Don't fight him head-on.

  2. 2

    Kite with E

Tryndamere will use his E to dodge your abilities or escape. After he uses E, it's your chance to trade.

  3. 3

    Survive and counter with R

Tryndamere will use his R to become invincible when low. Don't chase if you don't have E; wait for his R to end before fighting.
