Matchup plan

Recommended: Aery with Absolute Focus and Scorch to maximize early stats and poke; Aery procs on autos and abilities. Secondary: Biscuits and Boots for sustain and free gold. If worried about Jax's Iceborn Gauntlet, take Phase Rush to avoid being kited mid-game. Prioritize Chain Vest and Tear; Chain Vest gives armor vs Jax, Tear ensures mana for constant pressure. Avoid items like Manamune that delay power; opt for double Doran's for immediate combat stats.

How a strong Jax player plays

  1. 1

    Level 1 Q Chase

If you take E at level 1, he'll take Q and jump on you for a trade; don't waste E.

  2. 2

    Level 1 E Counter

If you take Q at level 1, he'll take E to block and stun you; trade will be unfavorable.

  3. 3

Use E to Clear and Recall

When he recalls and gets interrupted by minions, he'll use E to clear minions to slow push, then recall in bush.
