Phase Rush works wonders against Darius; after he pulls you with E, you can quickly disengage to avoid being stuck and killed. Not recommended to take Ultimate Hunter; Domination tree gives low lane value, prioritize runes that make laning comfortable. Start with Bramble Vest, then Iceborn Gauntlet and boots, later build Banshee's Veil and finish Thornmail, balancing armor and magic resist.

Against a Darius of equal skill, Malphite must play safe early. Levels 3-5 are a weak phase where he can easily die. After level 6, he can only fight after baiting out Darius's E. Overall a tough matchup.

How a strong Darius player plays

  1. 1

    Outer Q to shove wave

    Darius will use outer Q on ranged minions first, then a second Q to clear all ranged minions, creating the illusion of a large wave before engaging.

  2. 2

    Use Q animation to gap close with E

    Darius will use your Q cast animation to step forward and shorten the distance to land his E.

  3. 3

    Predict ult to dodge outer Q

    After level 6, during a fight, Darius will predict your ult direction and Flash to dodge it, while also making you miss your outer Q.
