Against Shen, runes can be Grasp of the Undying, Demolish, Conditioning, Unflinching. Secondary: Magical Footwear, Biscuit Delivery. Small rune: Magic Resist to counter Shen's Q percent magic damage. Another option: Since Malphite is less tanky than Shen, take Arcane Comet or Summon Aery, use Q to poke from range. If Shen doesn't retaliate, keep poking; if he does, activate E to reduce his attack speed and continue poking. First item: Sunfire Aegis to improve waveclear, as Shen lacks waveclear abilities.

Malphite has an easy matchup against Shen. Control the wave and farm. At level 6, use your ultimate to interrupt his teleport. Shen has slow waveclear and can only be pressured.

How a strong Shen player plays

    W blocks your trades

    High-level Shen will hold his W until you auto-attack, blocking your Grasp proc. Bait his W before trading.

  2. 2

    E baits your abilities

    If Shen suddenly walks forward, he may be trying to E taunt you, or the jungler is coming. Back off to avoid being CC'd.

  3. 3

    Ultimate support

    Shen will look for opportunities to ult his teammates. You must push the wave mindlessly to keep vision; interrupt his ult with yours.
