Matchup plan

Against Riven, it's recommended to take Fleet Footwork. After being poked, use the movement speed to create distance and avoid being burst down. When building Spear of Shojin first, it's best to save up for the full item, as the components don't provide CDR, hindering Q stacking. If Riven doesn't have summoner spells, you can build Sheen first to increase kill pressure.

Nasus vs Riven · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Against a Riven of equal skill, Nasus must play passively and farm under tower early game. He is suppressed before level 6, and can only fight back once he has items and Q stacks.

How a strong Riven player plays

  1. 1

Wait for You to Engage First

High-level Rivens won't waste their abilities; they wait for you to last hit or step forward, then combo you with Q and W.

  2. 2

    Freeze and Suppress

Riven will freeze the wave to deny you farm, forcing you to soak XP. The wave will eventually push, or she may even let you die to reset it.

  3. 3

    Half HP Kill Threshold

Riven with Ignite and Nimbus Cloak can kill you at half HP by ulting, flashing, and igniting for a full combo.
